The Lomnica Golf Club was founded on May 16, 1999. On June 18, 1999, the club’s facilities in the form of a temporary building and a driving range were ceremonially opened. In the first year of its existence, the club’s sports activities focused on educating juniors, who represented our club at the Slovak Junior Championships in Košice in August 1999. On October 31, 1999, the first season was ceremonially closed with the final autumn tournament.
In April 2000, we began construction of a 9-hole natural golf course, which was opened on September 22, 2000. Five years later, nine holes were played, to which another nine holes were added a year later, and in September 2007, another nine holes were opened. In 2011, the golf course received the prestigious A PGA Golf Course quality mark, becoming the 19th course in the world to hold this mark.
The winner of the inaugural tournament was member Peter Jurko, and since 2002, the club’s stroke play championship has been held regularly, later also for matches. Women joined the tournament a year later.
